If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I love Mediterranean food! I love how it is so packed with fresh and full flavors. Rich olive oil, creamy and tangy feta cheese, vibrant spices, and tangy lemon are all characteristics of an incredible Mediterranean dish.
This Mediterranean creamy feta dip is no exception! I can’t get enough of it, and I find ways to make this whipped feta whenever possible. Whether it’s on a charcuterie board, a hearty Greek sandwich, or paired with some homemade hummus, this recipe is always a hit.

There are so many things to love about this delicious dip, it’s impossible to choose just one.
- No cooking required: You can make this in a blender, food processor, or with a standing mixer. No standing over the stovetop and no need to turn on the oven! Another bonus is that you’ll only dirty one dish when preparing this creamy dip. And who doesn’t love less dishes?
- Simple ingredients: Everything that you need for this dip can be found at your local grocery store. You shouldn’t have to buy any exotic spices or ingredients that you would use for this recipe alone! Most ingredients are things that you already have in your fridge or your pantry.
- All-around pleaser: This dip pairs well with almost anything! I use it to clean out veggies from our fridge, including peppers, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, celery, and whatever else you have on hand. We love eating it with pita bread, homemade naan bread, crackers, and pretzels, or using it as a spread on sandwiches. It’s an incredible side to some Greek chicken, Greek potatoes, fresh salads, pasta salads, or whatever other Mediterranean meal you are cooking up.

Whipped feta cheese is more than just feta! There are some other key ingredients that transform the feta into a flavorful and delicious dip.
- Feta cheese: If possible, use a block of feta, not the boxed feta crumbles. I have found that the whole blocks of feta whip better, taste better, and are overall better quality than the boxed feta.
- Cream cheese: Make sure that the cream cheese is softened before whipping! It will help everything cream together so much easier.
- Mayonnaise: This recipe doesn’t require much mayo, but I have found it important in getting the right texture and creaminess.
- Extra-virgin olive oil: The subtle but rich flavor of olive oil brings some depth to the whipped feta. It also helps to thin out the dip, so add more according to your preference. I also like to drizzle some on top of the dip as a pretty garnish.
- Garlic cloves: I prefer fresh garlic cloves because it keeps this recipe even more vibrant. Make sure that they are finely diced so that the flavor is dispersed throughout the entire dip.
- Dried oregano and red chili flakes: These spices add some additional flavor to the dip. These can easily be adjusted according to your preference! Sometimes, depending on the crowd, I like to up the amount of red chili flakes for some additional heat.
- Lemon zest: I personally think that the lemon zest is what ties it all together. It is fresh, tangy, and vibrant. The perfect balance to the richness of the cheeses, it keeps the dip light.

For those that are wanting to cut back on calorie consumption, this dip can easily be modified!
I would start with using a low fat cream cheese, or neufchatel. It can be found at most grocery stores near the regular cream cheese. This is a lower calorie, lower fat option that still has great flavor!
Another way to lighten this dip is to use light mayo, which also has less fat and less calories.
How to store whipped feta
I love whipped feta because it can easily be made ahead for any party or gathering. Keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days after preparation.

Pin ItIn a mixing bowl, whip together softened cream cheese, feta cheese, and mayonnaise for at least 4 minutes or until light and fluffy. Scrape the sides of the bowl often. Add extra-virgin olive oil and mix together.
